Welcome to Cartoon Forum 2020!
For more than 30 years, Cartoon Forum has been offering this intense moment of discovery, meeting and collaboration around TV series that are at the heart of the animation industry. And we wish it had been the same again this year. But here it is… The health crisis has decided otherwise…
These past few months, then these past few weeks have been difficult, for all of us, for the animation industry in general and for each of its actors: producers, animators, writers, buyers, broadcasters, and many more. This lasting health crisis is straining us and has required us to constantly adapt, sometimes overnight. And yet we rise to the challenge, each of us, every day, to the best of our ability.
At Cartoon, we adapted in real time to changing circumstances, until this last decision following the dramatic rebound of the epidemic: the decision to cancel Cartoon Forum on site in Toulouse and to replace it, almost off the cuff, with a digital version. Even though we had anticipated this eventuality, we still had to pivot very quickly. Fortunately, our team was able to find the resources and the creativity to overcome the hurdle and offer you the digital version that you are discovering.
We wanted to stay as close as possible to what Cartoon Forum offers: the discovery of projects for animated TV series, most of which have never been seen before.
You will therefore have the opportunity to discover in exclusivity the projects selected in June thanks to our mobile application and you will be able to view throughout the week (and until October 15) the pitches recorded by the producers.
Let’s claim loud and clear that the producers provided an extraordinary example of flexibility, creativity and determination to present their project in this never-before-seen format of recorded video. We sincerely thank them for playing along so well and for sending in pitches, which you will see are definitely worth a look!
We have also been able to count on the unfailing support of our French partners, they have been by our side, in a constant dialogue and a real partnership to help us gradually find the aids and solutions that allow us today to open this 31st Cartoon Forum online. Many thanks to our precious partners: the CNC, the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region, the City of Toulouse and Toulouse Métropole, as well as our broadcaster partner, France Télévisions. They are all associated with the long-standing partnership of the European Union's Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme.
Many thanks to all of you who trust us and who participate in this brand new version of Cartoon Forum online. Thank you very much for your presence, your support and we wish you a great Cartoon Forum 2020!
