All relevant information about our privacy policy is available here. You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation, and opposition by contacting us. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before responding to such requests. If you make a request, we will try our best to respond to you as soon as possible.

Where can I view the cal­en­dar of upcom­ing events?

We do not have a calendar of events on the website, but you can click on "Discover Our Events" at the top right of your screen to quickly view the dates of our upcoming events.

What are the dif­fer­ent events organ­ised by CARTOON?

CARTOON organises five events each year:

  • Pitching & Co-production Events:
    • Cartoon Forum: For TV series projects in development.
    • Cartoon Movie: For feature film projects at various stages of development (concept, development, production, and sneak preview).
  • Training Events (called the Cartoon Masters):
    • CartoonNext: Keynotes and pitching sessions focused on the future of animation.
    • Cartoon Springboard: A pitching event dedicated to young European talents in animation.
    • Cartoon Business: A training seminar for European professionals focusing on new business models in animation.
How can I know which CAR­TOON event best fits my profile?

To determine the most suitable CARTOON event for you, consider your objectives:

  • If your objectives (for animation TV series projects) are to find co-producers, speed up financing, or catch the eye of broadcasters, then Cartoon Forum is ideal.
  • If your objectives (for animation feature film projects) are to find co-producers, speed up financing, or negotiate with distributors and sales agents, then Cartoon Movie is the right choice.
  • If you aim to update your knowledge on new trends and innovative topics, pitch your project and crossover strategy, or meet high-level animation professionals, then CartoonNext is right for you.
  • If you are a Young Talent and want to learn about market realities, get instant practical advice, or network with professionals, then Cartoon Springboard is fitting.
  • If you are keen to learn about today’s funding and revenue streams, benefit from business success stories, or engage with international key players in the industry, then Cartoon Business is the best fit.
What is the for­mat of CAR­TOON events? Does CAR­TOON organ­ise online events? Is it pos­si­ble to watch the ses­sions after the event (replay, streaming)?

All CARTOON events are held in person. Sessions are not available for replay or streaming after the events.

What should I do if I need a visa to attend an event? Does CAR­TOON pro­vide an invi­ta­tion letter?

CARTOON can provide an invitation letter to support your visa application. Please contact info@cartoon-media.eu and mention which event you are attending when making your request. Furthermore, please specify any additional details that you would like to be included in the invitation letter, such as your project’s name, your company’s name, your passport information, and so on.

Are the events acces­si­ble to peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties or reduced mobility?

CARTOON events are designed to be accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities or reduced mobility. If you have any specific needs or require particular accommodations, please do not hesitate to inform us in advance. We are here to ensure your comfort and participation.

Are inter­pre­ta­tion ser­vices avail­able for par­tic­i­pants who do not speak Eng­lish or French?

Interpretation services are available for certain events:

  • Cartoon Forum and Cartoon Movie: Simultaneous translation services are provided during pitches, translating the pitch language into French or English.
  • CartoonNext, Cartoon Springboard, and Cartoon Business: All sessions are conducted in English, and no translation services are offered. However, occasional interventions may be made in French, Flemish, or Spanish. In such cases, CARTOON provides written translations into English.

No other interpretation services are available.

Reg­is­tra­tion and Participation

How can I par­tic­i­pate in a CAR­TOON event?

To register for an event, you need to create a My Cartoon account here. If you already have an account, you can log in here. Once your account is created or you are logged in, navigate to "My Registrations" and select the event you wish to attend. Fill out the registration form completely to finalise your registration.

Who can par­tic­i­pate in CAR­TOON events? Are there any restric­tions (age, pro­fes­sion, etc.)? Are CAR­TOON events open to pro­fes­sion­als world­wide or only to Europeans?
Can stu­dents attend the events?

Students can participate in CARTOON events through the Coaching Programme:

  • Cartoon Movie: Each year, around 90 students from animation schools in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region (France) participate in the Coaching Programme. Find out more about it here.
  • Cartoon Forum: Around 90 students from animation schools in the Région Occitanie (France) join the Coaching Programme annually. Find out more about it here.
  • CartoonNext: Approximately 50 students from animation schools in the Région Sud (France) are invited to participate in the Coaching Programme each year. Find out more about it here.
  • Cartoon Springboard: The event is specifically designed for young talents/students, so there are no restrictions for students wishing to attend. Find out more about it here.
  • Cartoon Business: A Job Day is organised, during which around 40 students from Belgian animation schools are invited to take part. Find out more about it here.
Can young professionals/​talents attend the events?

There are no restrictions — young professionals/talents are welcome to attend all CARTOON events.

Are there events specif­i­cal­ly designed for young talents?

Cartoon Springboard is specifically designed for young talents. Created in 2015, Cartoon Springboard is a pitching and training event dedicated to young talents in animation, offering them the chance to take their first steps in the industry and learn from international professionals. What types of projects does CAR­TOON support?

CARTOON supports all types of animation projects except short films. For more details on the stage of development required (concept, development, production, sneak preview, etc.), please refer to another question further down the FAQ.

What are the ben­e­fits of par­tic­i­pat­ing in a CAR­TOON event with a project?

Participating in a CARTOON event with your project offers numerous benefits, tailored to the specific event you attend:

  • Cartoon Forum and Cartoon Movie: The primary advantage of these events is to accelerate the process of finding partners and securing financing for your project. They offer significant visibility for your project, with over 280 buyers in attendance at each event. Through Cartoon Movie, 487 films have secured financing, totalling a budget of €3.2 billion. Similarly, Cartoon Forum has facilitated financing for 1,010 TV series, amounting to €3.6 billion. These events are instrumental in connecting your project with potential investors and partners.
  • CartoonNext and Cartoon Springboard: These events offer the opportunity to enhance your project's visibility and to engage in discussions with a panel of experts. Cartoon Springboard has seen nearly 250 projects pitched, with over 80 projects currently in active development and 14 TV series/films released. These events are ideal for gaining expert insights and advancing your project's development.
In which lan­guage must I sub­mit a project to be selected?

All necessary elements for project submission must be provided to CARTOON in English only.

What stage does my project need to be at to be eli­gi­ble for CAR­TOON events?

Eligibility requirements vary depending on the specific CARTOON event:

  • Cartoon Movie: Projects can be submitted in one of four categories: concept, development, production, or sneak preview.
  • Cartoon Forum: Projects must be in the development stage to be eligible. They cannot be in production or fully financed.
  • CartoonNext: Projects can be submitted at 3 stages: concept, in development, or in production.
  • Cartoon Springboard: Projects can be submitted at 3 stages: concept, in development, or in production.
Does CAR­TOON offer fund­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for ani­ma­tion projects?

CARTOON offers funding opportunities for animation projects. As part of Cartoon Movie, the Eurimages Co-production Development Award is organised, featuring a cash prize of €20,000. Additionally, during Cartoon Forum, the EBU Co-Development Initiative provides collective financing for a pilot project selected by EBU Members from a range of pitches presented at the event.

Are there reduced fees for stu­dents or freelancers?

Students participating in the Coaching Programme for Cartoon Movie, Cartoon Forum, and CartoonNext or in Cartoon Business’ Job Day do not pay any fees, thanks to the support of our partners (Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region for Cartoon Movie, Région Occitanie for Cartoon Forum, Région Sud for CartoonNext, and Amplo for Cartoon Business).

However, there are no reduced fees available for freelancers.

Do the par­tic­i­pa­tion fees include accom­mo­da­tion and/​or meals?

There are no special packages or discounts available for companies or groups.

Are there schol­ar­ships or fund­ing to help with event participation?

As a nonprofit organisation, we are unable to provide funding for event participation. However, we do offer scholarships for CartoonNext, Cartoon Springboard, and Cartoon Business. For more information about these scholarships, please visit the following links:

Is it pos­si­ble to trans­fer my reg­is­tra­tion to a col­league if I can­not attend an event?

You can transfer your registration to a colleague : you will need to cancel your registration by contacting us, and your colleague will need to register separately. For more information about our cancellation policies, please refer to the following links:

What is the typ­i­cal pro­gramme for a CAR­TOON event?

Here are the different formats of the events:

  • Cartoon Movie: Includes a day of One-to-One meetings and Cartoon Talks, and two days of pitching sessions. Check out the full programme.
  • Cartoon Forum: Features two and a half days of pitching sessions and a half-day of One-to-One meetings. Check out the full programme.
  • CartoonNext: Spans three days of keynotes, panels, case studies, One-to-One meetings, and pitching sessions. Check out the full programme.
  • Cartoon Springboard: Offers one day of Job Fair, One-to-One meetings and masterclasses, and two days of pitching sessions for Young Talents. Check out the full programme.
  • Cartoon Business: Includes one day of One-to-One meetings, a Job Day and a Business Clinic, and two days of keynotes, panels, and case studies. Check out the full programme.
Are there organ­ised net­work­ing sessions?

Yes, One-to-One Meetings are organised during all CARTOON events, which allow participants to schedule targeted professional encounters. To take part in these meetings, simply indicate your interest when completing the registration form for the event.

In addition, CARTOON events are designed to foster communication and exchange between participants. Numerous informal networking opportunities are built into the schedule, especially during lunch breaks, coffee breaks, evening gatherings, and other free times where attendees can connect naturally and freely.

Can I meet pro­duc­ers and buy­ers at the events?

Absolutely. CARTOON events are designed to connect professionals from across the animation industry, including producers, buyers, and many others. These gatherings offer a unique opportunity to build relationships, explore potential collaborations, and present your work to key players in the European and international animation scene. Don’t hesitate to engage with other participants during networking moments or through the One-to-One Meetings.

Once you are registered for a CARTOON event, you will gain access to our mobile application. Through the app, you can:

Are there ded­i­cat­ed spaces for meet­ings and pro­fes­sion­al exchanges?

All CARTOON event venues offer spacious areas specifically designed to encourage professional exchanges. You’ll find plenty of tables, seating areas, and open spaces where you can hold informal meetings, network, or simply have a conversation in a comfortable setting. These areas are ideal for connecting with other participants in a relaxed yet professional atmosphere.

CARTOON is always open to contributions from industry professionals who wish to share their expertise. Travel and Accommodation

Does CAR­TOON assist par­tic­i­pants with trav­el and accom­mo­da­tion arrangements?

Participants are responsible for organising their own travel (including main travel and transfer from the train station/airport).

However, for accommodation, CARTOON can assist with hotel reservations upon request for Cartoon Movie and Cartoon Forum. This option can be selected when completing the registration form. This option is not available for CartoonNext, Cartoon Springboard and Cartoon Business; nonetheless, for these three events, CARTOON manages hotel accommodations for Young Talents, scholarship recipients, and Experts/Speakers.

Does CAR­TOON pro­vide shut­tles for participants?

CARTOON does not provide shuttle services for participants. All our events are designed to be easily accessible by foot or public transportation (including event venues and social events at night). When it is not the case, shuttle services are arranged to ensure convenient access for all participants.

Professional Opportunities

Does CAR­TOON offer intern­ships or jobs?

Feel free to apply! For internships, CARTOON does not offer short-term placements but typically takes on two interns for six-month periods. Regarding job opportunities, they arise occasionally, so it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on available positions.
