Mong is an anthology of anidoc series about stories from marginalized communities worldwide. The anthology focuses on strong female and queer leading characters, demonstrating global processes with unique stories and experiences. ‘’My Grandmother Is A Skydiver’’ is the first episode and a non-linear story set in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The granddaughter, experiencing the invasion of Ukraine, has a phone call with her young grandmother, who is living her best and most peaceful years in the 1960s in Tajikistan, actively skydiving and studying midwifery. The film reflects on the topics of ethnic identity, a sense of belonging, and breaking the cycles of generational trauma.
